Zachariah Smith (born March 31, 2003)[1] was a contestant on Season 21 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Zachariah auditioned in Nashville. He sang "Hurts So Good" by John Mellencamp. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Zachariah chose to work on his Confidence in the first part of Hollywood Week. He sang "Cold as Ice" by Foreigner. He was later shown in a duet with Isaac Brown called "Body Roll Boys", singing "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John. Despite having troubles remembering lyrics, they both advanced. For his final solo performance, he sang "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Afterwards, the judges told him that he did enough to become a Top 26 finalist.
Top 26 (Hawaii Round)[]
Zachariah sang "Lucille" by Little Richard. He received enough votes to deemed "safe" for another week.
Top 20[]
Zachariah sang "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. He received enough votes to become a Top 12 finalist. In celebration, he sang "Hold the Line" by Toto.
Top 12[]
Zachariah sang "Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another round.
Top 10[]
Zachariah sang "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi, as chosen by Lionel Richie. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another round.
Top 8[]
Zachariah sang "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette for his solo performance. He also performed "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran as a duet with Haven Madison (who was eliminated that night). Zachariah received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.
Top 5[]
Zachariah sang "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" from The Lion King and "Life is a Highway" from Cars. He, alongside Wé Ani, received the lowest number of votes for that week, eliminating him from the competition.

- Zachariah grew up in Wabash, Indiana, but moved to Mississippi when he met his wife, Crysta.
- He and Colin Stough both live in Amory, Mississippi—although Colin hails from the suburb of Gattman.
