American Idol Judges[]
The judges for 2014 are Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. as well as Ryan Seacrest has been the host of the show since the first season.
Jennifer Lopez was first seen as an American Idol judge in 2011 but stepped down in 2013 because she wanted to spend more time with her family. But she soon came back to American Idol in 2014 as one of the three leading judges.
Jennifer Lopez- Is a famous New York born Latina singer, actor, and fashion designer. She became interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry following a minor role in the 1986 film My Little Girl, to the dismay of her Puerto Rican parents who believed it was a foolish career idea. Lopez gained her first regular high-profile job as a dancer on In Living Color in 1991, where she remained a regular until she decided to pursue an acting career in 1993. Lopez became the first Latina actress to earn over $1 million for a role the following year, with the film Out of Sight. She ventured into the music industry in 1999 with her debut studio album, On the 6, joining a select few in successfully converting from a film to a music career. She has record sales reaching over $80 million and film gross over $2 billion. She started working as a judge for American Idol in 2011-2013, but took a year long break in 2013, but retook her spot as a judge in 2014.
Keith Urban- Is a New Zealand born, Australian raised country music singer and songwriter. When he was 2 years old, his parents moved the family to Australia, where his career eventually began. In 1991, he released a self-titled debut album, and charted four singles in Australia before moving to the United States in 1992. Eventually, he found work as a session guitarist before starting a band known as The Ranch, which recorded one studio album on Capitol Nashville, and he charted 2 hot top 100 country songs! He has sold millions of albums worldwide and is known as one of the greatest country music artists to ever live. He has been an American Idol Judge since 2013.
Harry Connick Jr.- Is a New Orleans born singer and songwriter who has sold over 28 million albums worldwide. Connick is ranked among the top 60 best selling male artists of all time in the United States. He has over 16 million certified sales! He has seven top-20 US albums, and ten number-1 US jazz albums, earning more number-one albums than any other artist in the US jazz chart history. Connick began his acting career as a tail gunner in the World War II film Memphis Belle in 1990. He played a serial killer in Copycat in 1995, before being cast as jet fighter pilot in the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day. This is his first year as an American Idol Judge.
