Uchechukwu Walter Ndubizu-Egwin-Okoli, known professionally as Uché (born July 15, 1994) was a contestant on Season 17 of American Idol.
Audition
Uché auditioned in Coeur d'Alene. He sang "Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera and "God is Able" by Ron Kenoly. Although Lionel originally voted "no", he later changed his mind and voted "yes". Katy and Luke also voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round
Uché was shown in the third part of Hollywood Week, singing "Scars to Your Beautiful" by Alessia Cara for his final solo performance. He was placed in the first deliberation room, along with Johanna Jones, Laci Kaye Booth, Alejandro Aranda, Nick Townsend, Laine Hardy, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Kai the Singer, Evelyn Cormier and Madison Vandenburg. It was revealed that everyone in the room advanced.
Hawaii Round
Uché sang "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. Afterwards, the judges told him he did enough to become a semifinalist.
Top 20
Uché sang "Figures" by Jessie Reyez and "I Need Your Love" by Shaggy in a duet with Shaggy. Afterwards, the judges told him he did enough to become a Top 14 finalist.
Top 14
Uché sang "Finesse" by Cardi B, ft. Bruno Mars during the Live Show. Next, he sang "Diamonds" by Rihanna during the Results Show. He was not placed in the Top 7 in the voting but was saved by Lionel Richie, making him a Top 10 finalist.
Top 10
