Todrick Hall (born April 4th, 1985) was a contestant on Season 9 of American Idol.

Audition

Todrick auditioned in Dallas. He sang an original song about American Idol and the judges. All four judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round

Although not shown performing, he was shown in a compilation of successful contestants from the first day. He later appeared in a group called "Destiny's Wild" along with Siobhan Magnus, Theri and Jareb Liewer singing "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga a cappella. Every member of his group advanced. For his final solo performance, he sang "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. After the judges' verdict, he was placed in the same holding room as Casey James, Tim Urban, Tyler Grady, Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens, Jermaine Sellers, Siobhan Magnus, Crystal Bowersox, Alex Lambert, Michael Lynche, Thaddeus Johnson, Tori Kelly, Lilly Scott and Jeff Goldford. Everyone in his room advanced. At the final deliberation, it was revealed that he did enough to make the Top 24.

Top 24

Todrick sang "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Top 20

Todrick sang "What's Love Got to Do With it" by Tina Turner. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Top 16

Todrick sang "Somebody to Love" by Queen. He, along with Alex Lambert, received the lowest number of votes that week, eliminating him from the competition.

After the Show

Todrick appeared in Broadway with roles in The Color Purple, Memphis, Kinky Boots and Chicago as well as lending his voice to Bob's Burgers and Muppet Babies. He also was a choreographer and occasional judge for the eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, as well as the lead singer of the Virgin America Airlines safety video from 2013-18.
