Shubha Vedula (born August 3, 1995)[1] was a contestant on Season 12 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Shubha auditioned in Long Beach. She sang "Something's Got a Hold on Me" by Etta James. Randy and Keith both voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Shubha was shown in the same Group of Ten as Kez Ban and Briana Oakley. Despite not being shown singing, she advanced. She was later shown in an unknown group, being the only member of the group to advance. For her final solo performance, she sang "When You Believe" by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Eventually, she did enough to make the Top 20 Girls.
Top 40[]
Shubha appeared in Female Group 1 and sang "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga. Afterwards, the judges told her she did not become a semifinalist.
Trivia[]
- Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were absent for her audition.
- Shubha's sister, Priya Vedula auditioned in Season 13 in Detroit and received a Golden Ticket. However, how well she placed in Hollywood is not known and she was never televised.
