Shelby Kathleen Dressel (born October 25th, 1990) was a contestant on Season 9 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Shelby auditioned in Orlando. She sang "Turn Me On" by Norah Jones. All four judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
She was shown in a group with Candice Glover singing "Superwoman" by Alicia Keys. For her final solo performance, Shelby sang "More Than a Feeling" by Boston. After her final solo performance, she was placed in a holding room with Haeley Vaughn, Maddie Penrose, Jessica Furney, Angela Martin, Didi Benami, Lee DeWyze, Lacey Brown, Aaron Kelly, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz, John Park, J.B. Ahfua and Janell Wheeler. It was revealed that everyone in the room had advanced. At the judges' final deliberation, the judges said she did not make the Top 24. Simon felt it was the "wrong decision" to eliminate her.
