- The premiere of season 23, which premiered after the 97th Academy Awards, had a runtime of 30 minutes, making it the shortest premiere episode in American Idol history.
- It was not advertised as a "premiere" but a "preview", although it effectively acted as the season premiere, as three auditions were shown in full.
- Bo Bice made a cameo appearance during a skit in the fourth audition episode.
- All of the eventual Top 24 had their auditions televised.
