Ryan auditioned in Los Angeles. He sang "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Ryan was shown in the third part of Hollywood Week, singing "All I Ask" by Adele for his final solo performance. He was placed in the first deliberation room, along with Uché, Johanna Jones, Laci Kaye Booth, Alejandro Aranda, Nick Townsend, Laine Hardy, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Kai the Singer, Evelyn Cormier and Madison Vandenburg. It was revealed that everyone in the room advanced.
Hawaii Round[]
Ryan sang "A Song for You" by Donny Hathaway. Afterwards, the judges told him he did enough to become a semifinalist.
Top 20[]
Ryan sang "You Say" by Lauren Daigle and "Hold On, I'm Comin'" by Sam & Dave in a duet with Cynthia Erivo. Afterwards, the judges told him he did not become a Top 14 finalist and he was eliminated.
