Roman Collins (born September 18, 1999)[1][2] was a contestant on Season 22 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Roman auditioned in Nashville. He sang "Living for the City" by Stevie Wonder. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Roman was shown in a montage at Idol Arena, which also included snippets of Blake Proehl, Justice Murphy, and Mackenzie Sol. Roman sang "Gravity" by John Mayer. He was subsequently put in the same group as Mia Matthews, KAYKO, Quintavious, Nick Connors, and Anna Grace, where the judges told them that they advanced. For his final solo performance, he sang "Come Together" by The Beatles. At the Final Judgment, the judges told him that he did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.

Roman was mentored by Jelly Roll in Group 2. He sang "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" by Marvin Gaye. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 20[]

Roman sang "Never Would Have Made It" by Marvin Sapp. He did not receive enough votes to place amongst the Top 10 contestants, putting him in the Danger Zone. He then sang "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by James Brown. The judges chose to save him from elimination, making him a Top 14 finalist.
