Nick Townsend was a contestant in Season 17 of American Idol.

Audition[edit | edit source]

Nick auditioned in Coeur d'Alene. He sang "Let It Go" by James Bay. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[edit | edit source]

Nick was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Group of Ten as Lauren Engle. He sang "Life of the Party" by Shawn Mendes. He advanced and for his final solo performance he sang "In My Blood" by Shawn Mendes. He was placed in the first deliberation room, along with Uché, Johanna Jones, Laci Kaye Booth, Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Kai the Singer, Evelyn Cormier, and Madison Vandenburg. It was revealed that everyone in the room advanced.

Hawaii Round[edit | edit source]

Nick sang "Hold Back the River" by James Bay. Afterwards, the judges told him that he did not make the Top 20 and he was eliminated.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Two of his brothers committed suicide over the course of less than a year.
  • Nick auditioned for the twelfth season of The Voice but failed to turn a chair.
