Deneco Pittman, known professionally as Neco Starr was a contestant on Season 11 and Season 13 of American Idol.

Season 11 Audition[edit | edit source]

Neco auditioned in Savannah. He sang "Grenade" by Bruno Mars. It's unknown how the judges voted, but at least two of them voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Season 11 Hollywood Round[edit | edit source]

Neco was shown in the same Group of Ten as Lauren Mink, Jeremy Rosado, Ethan Jones and Symone Black. He advanced along with Jeremy. After his untelevised final solo performance in front of the judges on Day 3, he was placed in the fourth deliberation room along with Baylie Brown, Britnee Kellogg, Angie Zeiderman, Richie Law, Heejun Han, Stephanie Renae and Gabi Carrubba among others, where it was revealed that everyone in the room had advanced.

Las Vegas Round[edit | edit source]

Neco was shown in a group with Heejun Han, Phillip Phillips and Jairon Jackson singing "I Only Have Eyes for You" by The Flamingos. Everyone in his group advanced.

For his final solo performance, he sang "The Lady in My Life" by Michael Jackson. At the Final Judgment, the judges told him he did not make the Top 24.

Season 13 Audition[edit | edit source]

Neco auditioned in Atlanta. He sang "Someone Like You" by Adele. Although Keith voted "no", Jennifer and Harry voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Season 13 Hollywood Round[edit | edit source]

Neco was one of the contestants chosen by the judges to sing at the airport hangar. He sang "Gorilla" by Bruno Mars. He was placed in Bus 2, along with Eric Wood, Connor Zwetsch, Morgan Deplitch, MK Nobilette, Adam Roth and fourteen others, where they met up with the other contestants who survived the first cut. He was later shown in a group with George Lovett singing "Treasure" by Bruno Mars. For his final solo performance, he sang "Halo" by Beyonce while battling illness. At the Final Judgment, he was called up with Ben Briley. The judges could not make a decision on which boy to advance and put the verdict up to a public vote.

During Rush Week, it was announced that Ben won the vote and Neco lost.
