Michael Rice (born October 25, 1997)[1][2] was a contestant on Season 22 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Michael auditioned in Los Angeles. He sang "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Although Michael's Idol Arena performance was not televised, he was subsequently seen in a montage of contestants who survived the round, alongside Kaibrienne, Nya, Kennedy Reid, Ziggy, Elleigh Marie, and Ajii. After his untelevised Showstopper performance, he was shown in a montage of contestants who were eliminated at the Final Judgment, just shy of the Top 24—receiving the news alongside fellow English overseas contestant, Scarlett Lee.

- Michael is originally from Hartlepool,[3] County Durham in North East England.
- He appeared on the eleventh series of The X Factor UK, but was eliminated at the Bootcamp stage.
- Michael won the first series of the UK version of All Together Now, receiving a cash prize of £50,000.[4]
- He later appeared on the Russian version of the franchise, progressing to the Finale.
- He would later win Eurovision: You Decide—a runoff mini-contest (6 people; 3 songs; 1x1 singing battles), determining the entry for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. He won via a song called "Bigger Than Us" (written by others).
- Michael then represented the UK at Eurovision with the song, competing against twenty-five other countries. Unfortunately, the United Kingdom came in last place (26th), scoring only 11 points.[5]
