Michael Jordan Woodard (born October 6, 1997) was a contestant on Season 16 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Michael auditioned in Los Angeles. He sang "Make It Rain" by Ed Sheeran. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Michael was shown in a group called "God's Diversity" with Thaddeus Johnson, Shannon O'Hara and Kourtney Smith singing "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit, ft. Jess Glynne. Everyone in his group advanced. He was later shown in the final solo round singing "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret. During Showcase Round, he sang "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette and at the Final Judgment it was revealed that he did enough to land a spot in the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Michael was shown in Group 1. He sang "Golden Slumbers" by The Beatles and "Angel in Blue Jeans" by Train in a duet with Patrick Monahan. The judges felt he was good enough to become a Top 14 finalist.

Top 14[]

Michael sang "Titanium" by David Guetta, ft. Sia during the Live Show and "Believe in Yourself" by Diana Ross, from The Wiz soundtrack, for the Results Show. He was placed in the Top 6 in voting for that week, making him a Top 10 finalist.

Top 10[]

Michael sang "Beauty and the Beast" by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion from the film Beauty and the Beast. He received enough votes to become a Top 7 finalist.

Top 7[]

Michael sang "I Would Die 4 U" by Prince and the Revolution and "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. He received enough votes to become a Top 5 finalist.

Top 5[]

Michael sang "Flat on the Floor" by Carrie Underwood and "Still I Rise" by Yolanda Adams. He, alongside Cade Foehner, received the lowest number of votes, thus eliminating him from the competition.

After the Show[]

Michael was cast in the title role of Netflix original film Arlo the Alligator Boy and its subsequent television series I โค๏ธ Arlo. He received an Annie Award nomination for Best Voice Acting - TV/Media, making him the first American Idol alum to be nominated for such award.

  • Prior to appearing on American Idol, Michael was the winner of the only season of Majors & Minors, a television singing contestant comprised entirely with children.
