Mia Makana Matthews (born December 7, 2004)[1][2] was a contestant on Season 22 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Mia auditioned in Nashville, alongside her sister, Jacy Matthews. Their mother, Tara, accompanied them, both musically (on piano) and in support. Mia sang "No Place That Far" by Sara Evans. Although Lionel voted "no", Katy and Luke voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Mia was shown at Idol Arena, singing "Mama's Broken Heart" by Miranda Lambert. She was subsequently placed in the same group as Roman Collins, KAYKO, Quintavious, Anna Grace, and Nick Connors, where the judges told them that they advanced. For her final solo performance, she sang "You Ain't Woman Enough (To Take My Man)" by Loretta Lynn. At the Final Judgment, she was called up alongside McKenna Breinholt. Afterwards, the judges told them both they each did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.
Top 24 (Hawaii Round)- Group 2[]
Mia was mentored by Jelly Roll in Group 2. She sang "Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.
Top 20[]
Mia sang "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" by Lainey Wilson. She received enough votes to place amongst the Top 10 in the results, making her a Top 14 finalist. In celebration, she sang "Burning House" by Cam.
Top 14[]
Mia sang "Those Memories of You" by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, & Emmylou Harris. She received enough votes to be considered "safe".
Top 12[]
Mia sang "Over You" by Miranda Lambert. She received enough votes to be considered "safe".
Top 10[]
Mia sang "No One Needs to Know" by Shania Twain. She, alongside KAYKO, received the lowest number of votes, thus eliminating her from the competition.

- Mia is the older sister of Jacy Matthews.
- Mia, alongside Jacy and their mother Tara, appeared as a trio on the nineteenth season of The Voice under the name Worth the Wait, and landed on Blake Shelton's team at their audition. They finished in the Top 17 overall.[3]
- Mia revealed on Instagram that she planned to sing "No One Else on Earth" by Wynonna Judd on the Top 8 telecast, had she not been eliminated.
