Melissa's audition was originally not televised, but a flashback revealed she auditioned in Denver. She sang "Can't Fight the Moonlight" by LeAnn Rimes. Although Simon voted "no," Randy and Paula voted "yes," sending her to the next round.

Melissa's stay in Hollywood was not shown much, but she did enough to make the final forty-four. At the judges' final deliberation, they told her she did enough to make the Top 24.
