Mary Jo Young (born May 15, 2001)[1][2] was a contestant on Season 19 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Mary Jo auditioned in San Diego. She sang "You Broke Me First" by Tate McRae. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Mary Jo was shown in the "Pop" category of the Genre Challenge, alongside Colin Jamieson and Claudia Conway. Although originally untelevised, she was paired up with Benson Boone. During the Showstoppers Round, she was shown singing "Us" by James Bay. Afterwards, during the Final Judgment, the judges told her that she made the Top 24.

Mary Jo sang "Castle on the Hill" by Ed Sheeran and "Foolish Games" by Jewel in a duet with her. She did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 8 in her group and was eliminated.
