Mario Adrián Vázquez (born June 15th, 1977) was a contestant on Season 4 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Mario auditioned in Las Vegas. He sang "Whatever Happens" by Michael Jackson. All four judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Mario was shown in the first part of Hollywood Round where he was shown in the same group of 10 as Patrick Norman and Francisco Torres . After his performance, the judges told him he did well enough to advance. In the second round, he was shown in a group with Anwar Robinson and Jamar Jefferson singing "I Can't Help Myself" by Four Tops. Each member of his group advanced following their performance. On the final part of Hollywood Week, he sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. He did enough to progress, along with Jamar Jefferson, Matthew Kester, Carrie Underwood, Constantine Maroulis, Judd Harris, David Brown, Anwar Robinson, Janay Castine and Vonzell Solomon. It was revealed during the judges' final deliberation that he did enough to land a spot in the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Mario sang "Do I Do" by Stevie Wonder. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 20[]

Mario sang "I Love Music" by The O'Jays. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 16[]

Mario sang "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" by The Bee Gees. He received enough votes to make the Top 12.

A couple of days before the Top 12 performance, Mario withdrew from the competition for personal reasons. Nikko Smith served as his replacement.
