Majesty Rochelle York (born February 29, 1992), better known as Majesty Rose, is an American singer from Goldsboro, North Carolina who finished in 9th place on Season 13 of American Idol.
Background[]
Majesty, who had grown up singing in church, was working as a pre-school teacher when she tried out for the show. In addition to teaching and her music, she is also actively involved in many charitable events in her community.
American Idol[]
Majesty auditioned for the show in Atlanta where she sang "Violet Hill" by Coldplay. Impressed by her sweet vocals, the judges put her through to Hollywood where, in the acappela round, her take on "1234" by Feist caught people's attention. She continued to shine, making it to the top 30, where she sang "Happy" by Pharell Williams, and then the top 13.
For "This Is Me" week, Majesty sang "Tightrope" by Janelle Monae. It earned her praise from the judges.
For "Home" week, Majesty took on another Coldplay song, "Fix You". However, despite receiving a mixed reaction from the judges, the public voted to have Majesty around for the next week.
For "Songs from The Movies" week, Majesty tried to show that she had range by taking on the Academy Award-winning song "Let It Go" from the Disney film Frozen. Despite the judges liking it, the public didn't, and Majesty ended up in the bottom 3. She did manage to avoid elimination and make the American Idols Live tour.
For "Billboard Top 10" week, Majesty sang "Wake Me Up" by Avicii, but it got her a mixed reaction from the judges. She ended up in the bottom 3 for the second week in a row but survived elimination again.
For "I'm With The Band!" week, Majesty sang "Shake It Out" by Florence & the Machine. Despite giving it her all, Majesty wound up in the bottom 3 again and had to sing to stay on the show. Despite the crowd screaming for her to be saved, Majesty was eliminated on March 27, 2014, finishing in 9th place.
