Madison VanDenburg (born December 9, 2001) was a contestant on Season 17 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Madison auditioned in New York. She sang "Speechless" by Dan + Shay. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Madison was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Group of Ten as Margie Mays, Tyler Mitchell and Logan Johnson. She sang "Already Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. She advanced and for her final solo performance, she sang "All I Ask" by Adele. He was placed in the first deliberation room, along with Uché, Johanna Jones, Laci Kaye Booth, Alejandro Aranda, Nick Townsend, Laine Hardy, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Kai the Singer and Evelyn Cormier. It was revealed that everyone in the room advanced.
Hawaii Round[]
Madison sang "Who's Lovin' You" by The Jackson 5. The judges felt she was good enough to become a semifinalist.
Top 20[]
Madison sang "Domino" by Jessie J and "We Belong" by Pat Benatar in a duet with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. Afterwards, the judges told her she did enough to become a Top 14 finalist.

Madison sang "Fallin'" by Alicia Keys during the Live Show and "You and I" by Lady Gaga during the Results Show. She was placed in the Top 7 in voting for that week, making her a Top 10 finalist.

Madison sang "How Far I'll Go" by Auli'i Cravalho from Moana. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Madison sang "The Show Must Go On" by Queen and "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman in a duet with Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.
