MacKenzie Richard Bourg (born September 11, 1992) is an American singer-songwriter from Lafayette, Louisiana, who finished in 4th place in Season 15 of American Idol.
Background[]
MacKenzie, who is from Lafayette, Louisiana, first gained notice when he auditioned for Season 3 of the NBC singing show The Voice. His rendition of Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" caught the attention of R&B superstar Cee Lo Green, who was the only coach to turn around for him. MacKenzie made it to the live playoffs that season. He has since been working on his music, posting videos on YouTube as well as releasing a couple of singles.

Post Idol[]
After his elimination, MacKenzie went on the social media app Periscope to announce that he would be releasing his original song, "Roses", which he debuted during Hollywood week, as his first single. It was released April 6, 2016 and peaked at Number 3 on iTunes as well as Number 13 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart. His next single, "Little Moon", was released August 2, 2016.
