Louis Knight (born July 10, 2000)[1] was a contestant in Season 18 and Season 19 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Louis auditioned in Washington D.C. He sang an original song called "Change", dedicated to his late friend Russell. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Louis was shown in the "Pop" category of the Genre Challenge, alongside Genavieve Linkowski, Robert Taylor, Demi Rae, and Geena. He sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Afterwards, the judges told him that he advanced alongside Genavieve, Robert, Demi, and Geena. He was shown in a duet called "3:15" with Francisco Martin singing "Break Even" by The Script. Both of them advanced. For his final Solo performance, he sang "Hold Me While You Wait" by Lewis Capaldi. He was placed in the same deliberation room as Shannon Gibbons, Jeb Vonderbruegge, Jovin Webb, Nick Merico, Just Sam, Robert Taylor, Geena, Bilaal Avaz, Dillon James, Aliana Jester, and Demi Rae, where it was revealed that everyone in the room had advanced.

Hawaii Round[]

Louis sang "Castle on the Hill" by Ed Sheeran. Afterwards, during the Final Judgment, the judges told him that he did enough to become a Top 20 finalist.

This Is Me[]

Top 20[]

Louis sang "If the World Was Ending" by JP Saxe ft. Julia Michaels. He received enough votes to become a Top 11 finalist.

Top 11[]

Louis sang "In My Place" by Coldplay. He received enough votes to become a Top 7 finalist.

Top 7[]

Louis sang "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" by Elton John from The Lion King and "You've Got a Friend" by Carole King. He did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 5 in the voting, eliminating him from the competition alongside Julia Gargano.

The Comeback[]

Louis sang an original song called "Maybe That". He did not receive enough votes to land a spot in the Top 10.
