Leah Marlene Grehan, known professionally as Leah Marlene (born June 25, 2001)[1] was a contestant on Season 20 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Leah auditioned in Nashville. She sang "Steal My Girl" by One Direction. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Leah was shown in the "Indie-Folk" category of the Genre Challenge, in a group with Fritz Hager. She sang "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne. She was later shown in a duet with Fritz called "Team Green". They sang "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars. For her final solo performance, she sang "She's a Self Made Man" by Larkin Poe. Afterwards, the judges told her that she did enough to make the Top 24.

Leah appeared in Group 2 and sang "Call Me" by Blondie. She received enough votes to advance.

Top 20[]

Leah sang "Heal" by Tom Odell. She received enough votes to place in the Top 10, making her a finalist. To celebrate, she sang an original song called "Wisher to the Well".

Top 14[]

Leah sang "Happy Together" by The Turtles. She received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.

Top 11[]

Leah sang "Make You Feel My Love" by Bob Dylan, as chosen by Katy Perry. She received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.

Top 10[]

Leah sang "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 7[]

Leah sang "Electric Love" by BØRNS and "Sanctuary" by the cast of Nashville, ft. Charles Esten, Lennon & Maisy. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 5[]

Leah sang "I'll Stand by You" by The Pretenders and "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" by Journey. She received enough votes to land a spot in the Finale.

Season 20 Finale[]

Leah sang "Cover Me" by Bruce Springsteen, and "Flowers". She received fewer votes than Huntergirl and Noah Thompson, eliminating her from the competition.

  • Leah's father is Derry Grehan,[2] the guitarist of the Canadian rock band Honeymoon Suite.
