Laci Kaye Booth (born August 28, 1995) was a contestant on Season 17 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Laci auditioned in Denver. She sang "Mama Tried" by Merle Haggard. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Laci was shown during the first part of Hollywood Week in the same Group of Ten as Alejandro Aranda. She sang "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin. She did good enough to advance and was later shown in a group called "Diamond Dixies" along with Katie Belle, Laine Hardy and Colby Swift singing "Grenade" by Bruno Mars. Everyone in her group advanced except for Colby. For her final solo performance, she sang "Stars" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. She was placed in the first deliberation room, along with Uchรฉ, Johanna Jones, Alejandro Aranda, Nick Townsend, Laine Hardy, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Kai the Singer, Evelyn Cormier and Madison Vandenburg. It was revealed that everyone in the room advanced.

Hawaii Round[]

Laci sang "Georgia on My Mind" by Ray Charles. Afterwards, the judges felt she did enough to become a semifinalist.

Top 20[]

Laci sang "I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick and "Mercy" by Brett Young in a duet with Young. Afterwards, the judges told her she did enough to become a Top 14 finalist.

Top 14[]

Laci sang "I Miss You" by Blink-182 during the Live Show and "As Long as You Follow" by Fleetwood Mac. She was placed in the Top 7 in voting for that week, making her a Top 10 finalist.

Top 10[]

Laci sang "I See the Light" by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi from Tangled. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 8[]

Laci sang "Love of My Life" by Queen and "Jackson" from Walk the Line in a duet with Laine Hardy. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 6[]

Laci sang "To Love Somebody" by Janis Joplin and "Open Arms" by Journey. She was placed in the Bottom 2 in the voting for that week, however the judges chose to use their Save on her, keeping her in the competition for another week.

Top 5[]

Laci sang "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert, "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John and "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac (dedicated to her grandmother). She, along with Wade Cota, received the lowest number of votes for that week, eliminating her from the competition.
