Audition[]

Kyle auditioned in Dallas. He sang "Somebody to Love" by Queen. Although Randy voted "no", Paula and Simon voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Rounds[]

Kyle was shown during the second day of Hollywood Week. His performance garnered mixed reception from the judges, with Paula liking it but Simon hating it. Eventually, Simon even left his table saying it was a "no" from him. Kyle was shown in on the third day in the same group of ten as Jeffrey LampkinAngela Martin and Alyssa Coco. While he did not have a televised performance in that round, he advanced. On the fourth day, he sang "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the final 50. During the final deliberation, it was revealed that he was eliminated in favour of Colton Berry, a decision which Simon voiced strong objection towards. It was later revealed that this decision caused a major rift between Cowell and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.
