Kennedy Reid (born July 16, 2000) was a contestant on Season 22 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Kennedy auditioned in Los Angeles. She sang "River Deep - Mountain High" by Ike & Tina Turner. Although Luke voted "no", Lionel and Katy voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Kennedy was shown at Idol Arena, singing the traditional hymn, "How Great Thou Art". She was subsequently seen in a montage of contestants who survived the round, alongside Nya, Kaibrienne, Michael Rice, Elleigh Marie, Ziggy, and Ajii. After her untelevised Showstopper performance of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, she was shown in a montage of contestants who survived the Final Judgment and became Top 24 semifinalists.[1]

Top 24 (Hawaii Round)[]

Kennedy was mentored by Jelly Roll in Group 2. She sang "Fancy" by Reba McEntire. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 20[]

Kennedy sang "Love Can Build a Bridge" by The Judds. She did not receive enough votes to place amongst the Top 10 contestants, putting her in the Danger Zone. She then sang "Somethin' Bad" by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. The judges chose not to save her, thus eliminating her from the competition.

  • Kennedy's friend Jean Ann accompanied her, and played the piano during her audition. After the audition, Jean Ann played "Rose-Colored Glasses" by John Conlee on the piano for the judges.[2]
  • Kennedy discussed being bullied online after her audition, during her Top 20 video intro.[3]
  • She has a new album coming out soon called "When Hell Freezes Over".
