Kay Genyse was a contestant in Season 18 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Kay auditioned in Savannah. She sang "Mercy" by Duffy. Luke voted "no", but Katy gave her an opportunity to "sing for her life" on the streets of Savannah. After accumulating a group of people, she sang "Mercy" again. The crowd felt that she should go to Hollywood, with Katy and Lionel voting "yes", sending her there.
Hollywood Round[]
Kay was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Genre Challenge category as Bilaal Avaz, Shannon Gibbons and Lauren Spencer-Smith. She sang "Ain't Nobody" by Chaka Khan. Afterwards, the judges told her that she was eliminated.
