Julia Gargano (born March 9, 1998)[1] was a contestant in Season 18 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Julia auditioned in Washington, D.C. She sang an original song called "Growing Pains". All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Julia was shown in the "Singer-Songwriter" category of the Genre Challenge, alongside Arthur Gunn and Marna Michele. She sang "The Joke" by Brandi Carlile. Afterwards, the judges told her that she advanced alongside Arthur. For her final Solo performance, she sang an original song.

Hawaii Round[]

Julia sang "Glitter in the Air" by P!nk. Afterwards, the judges told her she did enough to become a Top 20 finalist.

Julia sang "Human" by Christina Perri. She received enough votes to become a Top 11 finalist.

Julia sang "New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel. She received enough votes to become a Top 7 finalist.

Julia sang "Beauty and the Beast" by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion from Beauty and the Beast and "Sweetest Devotion" by Adele. She did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 5 in the voting, eliminating her alongside Louis Knight.
