Jovany Barreto (born September 3rd, 1987) was a contestant on Season 10 of American Idol.

Audition

Jovany auditioned in New Orleans. He sang "Contigo en la Distancia" by Luis Miguel. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round

Jovany was shown in a group called "Spanglish" along with Karen Rodriguez, Jorge Gabriel and Kevin Campos. They sang "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. He advanced along with Karen. He was shown in the third part of Hollywood Week. She was placed in Deliberation Room 4, along with Thia Megia, Naima Adedapo, Carson Higgins, Julie Zorrilla, Rachel Zevita and Scotty McCreery. Everyone in her room advanced.

Las Vegas Round

In Las Vegas, he sang "Let it Be" with Lauren Turner. He advanced.

Back in Hollywood, for his final performance, he sang "Angel" by Jon Secada. At the judges' final deliberation, they told him he made the Top 24.

Top 24

Jovany sang "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain. Although he was initially eliminated, he was selected to compete in the Wild-Card round.

Trivia

• At his audition, he took off his shirt for Jennifer Lopez, whom he called "a goddess". This prompted Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler to take of their shirts with him.
