Jonathan 'Jonny' West (born October 15, 1996)[1] was a contestant in Season 18 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Jonny auditioned in Los Angeles, alongside his girlfriend—Season 17 quarterfinalist, Margie Mays. He sang an original song called "Makin' Love". All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Jonny was shown in the "Singer-Songwriter" category of the Genre Challenge, alongside Sofia Schuster, Adam Curry, Francisco Martin, and Dillon James. He sang "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi. Afterwards, the judges told him he advanced. He was later shown in a duet with his girlfriend, Margie Mays, called "Marjonny Ways" singing "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" by Meghan Trainor and John Legend. Both members of the duet advanced. For his final Solo performance, he sang an original song. He was later placed in the same deliberation room as Arthur Gunn, Sophia Wackerman, Franklin Boone, Makayla Phillips, Kimmy Gabriela, Francisco Martin, DeWayne Crocker Jr., Cyniah Elise, and Lauren Mascitti, where it was revealed that everyone in the room had advanced.
Hawaii Round[]
Jonny sang "You Found Me" by The Fray. Afterwards, during the Final Judgment, the judges told he did enough to become a Top 20 semifinalist.

Jonny sang "Faithfully" by Journey. He received enough votes to become a Top 7 finalist.

Jonny sang "Almost There" by Anika Noni Rose from The Princess and the Frog and "Amazing Grace".
Season 18 Finale[]
Jonny sang "Can't Keep a Good Man Down" by Eddie Money and an original song called "Makin' Love". He did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 2 in the voting, eliminating him from the competition. This effectively tied him for third place, alongside Dillon James and Francisco Martin.

- At the time of his audition, Jonny was dating Margie Mays. He accompanied her to her Season 17 audition but did not try out that time.
