Jonny Brenns was a contestant on Season 16 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Jonny auditioned in New York. He sang an original song called "Blue Jeans". Although Lionel voted "no", Katy and Luke voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Jonny was shown in an unknown Group of Ten singing "Somebody Else" by The 1975. He advanced. He was later shown in the Solo Rounds singing "I Lived" by OneRepublic. Afterwards, he was placed in the same holding room as Ada Vox, Mara Justine, Thaddeus Johnson, Noah Davis, Ron Bultongez, Samothias and Laine Hardy. Everyone in their room advanced. During the Showcase Round, he sang "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith and at the Final Judgment, it was revealed that he did enough to make it to the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Jonny was shown in Group 1. He sang "Georgia" by Vance Joy and "Back Home" by Andy Grammer in a duet with Grammer. The judges felt he was good enough to become a Top 14 finalist.

Top 14[]

Jonny sang "This Is Gospel" by Panic! At the Disco for the Live Show and "Demons" by Imagine Dragons for the Results Show. He was not placed in the Top 6 in voting for that week and was not selected by the judges to become a Top 10 finalist, eliminating him from the competition.
