Jessica Lee Langseth (born April 13, 1983),[1] known on the show as Jesse Langseth, was a contestant on Season 8 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Jesse's audition was originally not televised, but a flashback revealed she auditioned in Kansas City. She sang "The First Cut Is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow. It's unknown how the judges voted, but at least three of them voted "yes," sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Jesse was shown in the second part of Hollywood Week in a group with Matt Breitzke singing "Some Kind of Wonderful" by Soul Brothers Six. She managed to make it to the final day and at the judges' mansion, she was asked to have a sing-off against Frankie Jordan to determine who will advance to the Top 36. Afterwards, the judges decided that Jesse would advance to the Top 36 and Frankie would not.

Top 36[]

Jesse was shown in Group 2. She sang "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes. Although initially eliminated, she was selected to compete in the Wild-Card round.

Wild-Card[]

Jesse sang "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus and Chaka Khan. She was not selected to compete in the Top 13, eliminating her from the competition.

Trivia[]

  • Jesse's brother is Jonny Lang, a critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning indie blues musician/singer.
  • Now married, Jesse's current name is Jesse Langseth-Dording.[2]
