Jeneve Rose Mitchell (born February 29, 2000)[1] was a contestant on Season 15 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Jeneve auditioned in Denver. She sang "Chainsaw" by The Band Perry, while plucking her cello. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.[2]

Hollywood Round[]

Jeneve was shown during the first part of Hollywood Week, singing "Boondocks" by Little Big Town.[3] She advanced, and was next seen in a group with two unidentified girls, singing "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum.[4] (They were displayed during the same montage as Avalon Young—with two other unidentified females; as well as Amelia Eisenhauer, Tristan McIntosh, Lee Jean, and another unidentified girl. Everyone in each montage group advanced to the next round.)[5] For Jeneve's third round solo performance, she sang "Danny's Song" by Loggins & Messina (also sung by Anne Murray).[6] Afterwards, she was subsequently placed into a room, where everyone within made it through to the Showcase Round. For her final solo performance, Jeneve sang "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash, while playing guitar. At the Final Judgment, the judges told her that she did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.[7]

Top 24[]

Jeneve performed during the Group 1 semifinals. She sang "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan for her solo performance, while playing the harp.[8] For her Idol alumni duet, she and Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery sang "Gone" by Montgomery Gentry, which he sang on both Top 5 and Top 2 nights in his season. The judges then selected Jeneve as one of the seven contestants to advance to the next round.[9]

Top 14[]

The judges chose four contestants (Dalton Rapattoni, Olivia Rox, Trent Harmon, and La'Porsha Renae) to receive Fast-Passes.[10] This enabled them the ability to skip performing and advance directly into the Top 10 as finalists.[10] The remaining ten contestants competed for America's Wild-Card votes to secure one of the six remaining slots.[10]

Jeneve sang a reprise of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash.[11] She did not earn enough votes to advance, and thus was eliminated from the competition—along with Manny Torres, Jenn Blosil, and Thomas Stringfellow.[12]
