Jayna Elise Brown (born September 26, 2001),[1][2] known professionally as Jayna Elise, was a contestant on Season 21 and Season 22 of American Idol.
Season 21 Audition[]
Jayna auditioned in Las Vegas. She sang "Who Wants to Live Forever?" by Queen. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Season 21 Hollywood Round[]
Jayna shown in a trio called "The Trio" with Adin Boyer and Summer Joy. Initially a duet, Adin joined the group due to having an odd number of contestants. They sang "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John. She was also Fire's impromptu duet partner after Kaya Stewart withdrew due to illness, singing "Whataya Want from Me?" by Adam Lambert. She was eliminated sometime after her untelevised final solo performance.
Season 22 Audition[]
Jayna auditioned in Los Angeles. She sang "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.
Season 22 Hollywood Round[]
Jayna's performance wasn't shown, but she did survive the Idol Arena stage, and was seen among the Top 57 at the end, along with Alyssa Raghu, Sophia Ava Marie, Ricky Moyer, Victoria Johnson, Cate Gartner, and Alto Moon. For her final solo performance, she sang "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" by Cรฉline Dion (originally by Pandora's Box). At the Final Judgment, the judges told her that she did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.
Top 24 (Hawaii Round)[]
Jayna was mentored by Tori Kelly in Group 1. She sang "Confident" by Demi Lovato. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.
Top 20[]
Jayna sang "My All" by Mariah Carey. She did not receive enough votes to place amongst the Top 10 contestants, putting her in the Danger Zone. She then sang "All I Wanted" by Paramore. The judges chose to save her from elimination, making her a Top 14 finalist.
Top 14[]
Jayna sang "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. She received enough votes to be considered "safe".
Top 12[]
Jayna sang "Diamonds" by Rihanna. She, alongside Roman Collins, received the lowest number of votes, eliminating her from the competition.

Trivia[]
- At age 14, Jayna appeared on the eleventh season of America's Got Talent under the name Jayna Brown. She sang "Rise Up" by Andra Day, earning the Golden Buzzer from guest judge Louis Tomlinson (formerly of One Direction) at the Judge Cuts.[3] She was eliminated at the Semifinals.
- Jayna was also a Kidz Bop Kid in 2014, as she appeared on the Dream Big, Sing Loud Live Tour and was featured on the album Kidz Bop 26. She later mentioned this to Meghan Trainor during their Top 12 mentoring session, as Kidz Bop had covered Meghan's "All About That Bass".[2]
- Jayna portrayed the role of "Shannon" in Tyler Perry's filmed live stage musical, Madea's Neighbors from Hell (2013).[4]
- Her fellow Hollywood contestant, Emma Murdock, stated on Instagram that Jayna had sung "I'm with You" by Avril Lavigne for her untelevised Idol Arena solo performance.[5]
- ABC press photos show that Jayna was brought to Final Judgment simultaneously with Justice Murphy, who was eliminated. However, this was not edited into the episode.[6]
- Jayna dedicated her Top 12 performance to the late Season 19 runner-up, Willie Spence.
