Janelle Oredith Arthur (born December 12th, 1989) was a contestant on Season 10, Season 11 and Season 12 of American Idol.

Season 10 Audition[]

Janelle auditioned in Austin. She sang "Syrup & Honey" by Duffy and "No One Needs to Know" by Shania Twain. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Season 10 Hollywood Round[]

Janelle was shown in an unknown group in the second part of Hollywood Week. She was eliminated shortly thereafter.

Season 11 Audition[]

Janelle's audition was not televised.

Season 11 Hollywood Round[]

Janelle's stay in Hollywood was not shown, but it is known that she made the final seventy.

Las Vegas Round[]

Janelle was showcased in a montage of contestants who were eliminated at Las Vegas.

Season 12 Audition[]

Janelle auditioned in Charlotte. She sang "Where the Blacktop Ends" by Keith Urban. All four judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Season 12 Hollywood Round[]

Janelle was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Group of Ten as Rachel Hale. She sang "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" by Hank Williams Sr. She advanced and was later shown in a group called "The Misfits" with Breanna Steer, Kez Ban and Angela Miller singing "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes. Everyone in her group advanced. For her final solo performance, she sang "I Told You So" by Randy Travis. Afterwards, it was revealed that she advanced along with Candice Glover, Jett Hermano, Angela Miller and Zoanette Johnson. She eventually did enough to make the Top 20 Girls.

Top 40[]

Janelle was shown in Female Group 2 singing "Just a Kiss" by Lady Antebellum. Afterwards, the judges told her she did enough to make the semifinals.

Top 20[]

Janelle sang "If I Can Dream" by Elvis Presley. She received enough votes to place her in the five highest voted female contestants, making her a Top 10 finalist. To celebrate, she sang "Home" by Dierks Bentley during the results show.

Top 10[]

Janelle sang "Gone" by Scotty McCreery. She was placed sixth in the voting, making her safe for another week.

Top 9[]

Janelle sang "I Will" by The Beatles. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 8[]

Janelle sang "You Keep Me Hangin' On" by The Supremes and "Like a Prayer" by Madonna in a duet with Kree Harrison. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 7[]

Janelle sang "You May Be Right" by Billy Joel and "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" by Billy Joel in a trio with Kree Harrison and Amber Holcomb. She was placed in the Bottom 2 for that week.

Top 6[]

Janelle sang "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" by Dionne Warwick and "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 5[]

Janelle sang "When I Call Your Name" by Vince Gill and "Dumb Blonde" by Dolly Parton. She received the lowest number of votes for that week, eliminating her from the competition.
