Fantasia Monique Barrino (born June 30, 1984), later known as Fantasia was a contestant in Season 3 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Fantasia auditioned in Atlanta. She sang "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Fantasia was one of the first contestants shown in the first round of Hollywood Round, singing "Think" by Aretha Franklin. During the first cut after the second day, it was revealed that she advanced to the third day. She later managed to progress to the final day and advanced to the live shows and the Top 32.

Top 32[]

Fantasia was shown in Group 1. She sang "Something to Talk About" by Bonnie Raitt. She received enough votes to land her in the Top 2 for that week and the overall Top 12.

Top 12[]

Fantasia sang "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Fantasia sang "Always on My Mind" by Brenda Lee. She received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Season 3 Finale[]

In the Finale, Fantasia sang "All My Life" by K-Ci & JoJo, "Summertime" by Abbie Mitchell and "I Believe". She received more votes than Diana DeGarmo, making her the American Idol.

After the Show[]

Fantasia appeared in the Finale of Season 18, and she served as a mentor for the Top 12 performance show of Season 23.

  • In Season 7, Fantasia's brother Ricco Barrino auditioned, but given how his name did not appear on the American Idol website's list of Golden Ticket recipients for that year, he either was unable to get one or withdrew shortly after receiving one.
