American Idol Wiki

Emily Brooke (born November 11, 1998)[1] was a contestant on Season 14 and Season 15 of American Idol.

Season 14 Audition[]

Emily auditioned in Nashville. She sang "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood. The official verdict wasn't shown, but it is implied that she received at least two "yes" votes.[2]

Season 14 Hollywood Round[]

Emily was one of thirty-eight contestants called up by the judges immediately, before Hollywood Round could officially begin.[3] She sang "Little White Church" by Little Big Town.[4] Nobody was eliminated from this preliminary level; rather simply asked to perform after being deemed "among the most memorable auditions".[3] She was next seen in the third part of Hollywood Week—in a group called '3-2-1, Brunette' with Jake Black, Keri Lynn Roche, and Riley Bria, singing "With a Little Help from My Friends" by Joe Cocker (originally by The Beatles).[5] Despite suffering from food poisoning prior to their turn, Emily persevered through the quartet's performance.[5] All four members advanced to the next round.[5] After her non-televised fourth round solo performance, she advanced to the Top 48. At the House of Blues in New Orleans, Emily sang "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban as her final solo performance.[6] At the Final Judgment, the judges told her that she did not do enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist, but encouraged her to return.[7]

Season 15 Audition[]

Emily auditioned in Atlanta. She sang "Careless" by RaeLynn. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.[7]

Season 15 Hollywood Round[]

Emily was shown during the first part of Hollywood Week (in the same Lines of Ten as Trent Harmon and Poh Scott),[8] singing "I Wish I Could Break Your Heart" by Cassadee Pope.[9] The entire set of ten contestants advanced.[8][9] Her second round group performance was not televised. (Although during a 'bad choreography' montage, her group was visible—also containing Adam Lasher, Chandler Leighton, and Andrew Bloom. Their song was "You're the One That I Want" from Grease—by Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta.[10] Emily and Adam advanced, while Andrew and Chandler were eliminated.)[11] For her third round solo performance, she sang "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts.[12] Afterwards, she was subsequently placed into a room, where everyone within made it through to the Showcase Round. For her final solo performance, Emily sang "So Small" by Carrie Underwood.[13] At the Final Judgment, the judges told her that she did enough to become a Top 24 semifinalist.[14]

Top 24[]

Emily performed during the Group 1 semifinals. She sang "I Am Invincible" by Cassadee Pope for her solo performance.[15] For her Idol alumni duet, she and Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina sang "Flat on the Floor" by Carrie Underwood,[15] which Lauren also did on Top 5 and Top 2 nights during her season. Due to the absence of a public vote, the judges alone deliberated and opted not to select Emily as one of the seven contestants to advance to the next round,[16] thereby eliminating her from the competition.[15][16]
