LaDonna Adrian Gaines, known professionally as Donna Summer (born December 31st, 1948 - May 17th, 2012) was an American singer, songwriter and painter who gained prominence in the late 1970s disco era. She earned five Grammys, had three consecutive double albums reach No. 1 on the United States Billboard 200 chart and reputedly sold over 140 million records worldwide.

She served as a guest judge during the Top 4 week on Season 3 of American Idol. She also performed in the Season 7 Finale with the Top 12 girls.
