Deshawn Goncalves (born January 10, 2001)[1] was a contestant on Season 19 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Deshawn sang "Everything Must Change" by Nina Simone. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Deshawn was shown in a duet with Madison Watkins called "Kingdom Kids" singing "Stay" by Rihanna, ft. Mikky Ekko. During the Showstoppers Round, he sang "Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland. Afterwards, during the Final Judgment, the judges told him that he made the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Deshawn sang "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan and "I Lived" by OneRepublic in a duet with Ryan Tedder. He received enough votes to be considered "safe".

Top 16[]

Deshawn sang "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone. He received enough votes to become a Top 12 finalist. To celebrate, he sang "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder.

Top 12[]

Deshawn sang "The Way We Were" by Barbra Streisand (from The Way We Were). He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for another week.

Top 10[]

Deshawn sang "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Cliff Richards (from Pinocchio). He, alongside Cassandra Coleman and Alyssa Wray, received the lowest number of votes for that week, eliminating them from the competition.
