Derrell Brittenum and Terrell Brittenum were contestants on Season 5 of American Idol.

Audition[edit | edit source]

The Brittenum twins auditioned in Chicago. They sang an original song together, then Derrell sang "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" by The Temptations and Terrell sang "My Girl" by The Temptations. All three judges voted "yes" to both of them.

Hollywood Round[edit | edit source]

Derrell and Terrell were both shown on the first part of Hollywood Week. Derrell sang "I'll Never Love this Way Again" by Dionne Warwick. Terrell sang "The First Cut is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow.

Terrell was shown in a group called "The Idol-Phonics" with Anthony Hansen, Jose "Sway" Penala and Elliott Yamin singing "It's In Her Kiss" by Betty Everett.

Derrell was shown in an unknown group singing "I Can't Help Myself" by The Four Tops. Although he was declared safe, he bowed out of the competition thinking his twin brother got eliminated. After he found out that he did not get eliminated, he came back on the stage and asked to be brought back to the competition. Simon Cowell was visibly upset with his "hissy" attitude, but did tell him he would discuss with the other judges whether he would be allowed back in in thirty minutes. The judges told them that they were allowed to compete.

Both of them initially advanced to the final forty-four, but they were disqualified for being charged with forgery and theft and using a fake identity to purchase a car.
