David James Archuleta (born December 28th, 1990) was a contestant on Season 7 of American Idol.
Audition[]
David auditioned in San Diego. He sang "Waiting on the World to Change" by John Mayer. All three judges voted "yes", sending him through the next round.
Hollywood Rounds[]
David was shown on the fourth day of Hollywood Week. Although it wasn't formally televised, he again sang "Waiting on the World to Change" on the first day, to which all three judges voted "yes", sending him straight to the fourth day. On the fourth day, he sang "Heaven" by Bryan Adams. He received three "yeses" from the judges, sending through to the final 50. During the final deliberation, it was revealed he had made the Top 24.

Season 7 Finale[]
David sang "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" by Elton John (as chosen by Clive Davis), "In This Moment" and "Imagine" by John Lennon. He did not receive more votes than David Cook, making him the runner-up.
After the Show[]
David served as a mentor for Season 21's Hollywood Round, mentoring in the "Songwriting" category" alongside Clay Aiken. He later participated in the ninth season of The Masked Singer as "Macaw", finishing in second place.
