Season 11 Hollywood Round

Curtis' stay in Hollywood was not shown much, but he did manage to advance to the final seventy.

Las Vegas Round

Curtis was shown in a group with Amber Holcomb, Shannon Magrane and Joshua Ledet singing "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis Presley. Joshua and Shannon advanced while He and Amber did not.

Season 12 Audition

Curtis auditioned in Chicago. He sang "God is Able" by Smokie Norful. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Season 12 Hollywood Round

Curtis was shown in a same Group of Ten as Karl Skinner. He advanced and was later shown in a group called "The Couch Potatoes" with Nicholas Mathis and Charlie Askew singing "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars. Everyone in his group advanced and for his final solo performance he sang "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri. It was revealed that he advanced along with Paul Jolley and Lazaro Arbos. He eventually did enough to make the Top 20 Guys.

Top 40

Curtis was shown in Male Group 1 and sang "Superstar" by Delaney & Bonnie. Afterwards, the judges told him he did enough to become a semifinalist.

Top 20

Curtis sang "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly. He received enough votes to place him in the five highest voted male contestants, making him a Top 10 finalist. To celebrate, he sang "So High" by John Legend during the results show.

Top 10

Curtis sang "I Believe" by Fantasia. He was placed tenth place in the voting for that week, eliminating him from the competition.
