Christopher Adam "Chris" Daughtry (born December 26th, 1979) was a contestant on Season 5 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Chris auditioned in Denver. He sang "The Letter" by The Box Tops. Although Simon voted "no", Randy and Paula voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Chris was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week singing "The First Cut is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow. He was also shown in group with Ace Young and Bobby Bullard. Other than that, he was not shown much, but during the judges' final deliberation, they told him he did enough to make the Top 24.

After the Show[]
Chris achieved success with his band Daughtry. His self-titled debut album became the fasting-selling debut rock album in Soundscan history and two of the album's songs, "It's Not Over" and "Home" received Grammy Award nominations. He joins Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Scotty McCreery as the only Idol contestants to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. To date, Daughtry has sold over 8 million albums and over 22.6 million digital tracks in the United States.
He served as a mentor during Rush Week of Season 13 of American Idol alongside Adam Lambert.
Daughtry appeared on the second American season of The Masked Singer in disguise as the Rottweiler. He finished in second place behind Wayne Brady disguised as the Fox.
