Contestants from Canada or Mexico

This category is for contestants who have at least auditioned, and whose origins were in either non-USA North American country at some point, be it by birthplace, current residence upon auditioning, upbringing, or at least for a significant portion of lifetime. While few Mexican contestants have auditioned without a visa or relocation, as of Season 18, American Idol permitted Canadian residents to audition without requiring them to be based within the USA.
