Casey Everett James (born May 31st, 1982) was a contestant on Season 9 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Casey auditioned in Denver. He sang "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer. Although Simon voted "no", Randy, Kara and Victoria voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Casey was shown in the same Group of Eight as Maddy Curtis. He sang "I Don't Need No Doctor" by Ray Charles. He did enough to advance. He was later shown in a group with called "Middle C" with Janell Wheeler and Jermaine Purifoy singing "Closer" by Ne-Yo. Every member of his group advanced. On the final day in Hollywood Week, he sang "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat. After the judges' verdict, he was placed in the same holding room as Tim Urban, Tyler Grady, Andrew Garcia, Todrick Hall, Katie Stevens, Jermaine Sellers, Siobhan Magnus, Crystal Bowersox, Alex Lambert, Michael Lynche, Thaddeus Johnson, Tori Kelly, Lilly Scott and Jeff Goldford. Everyone in his room advanced. At the final deliberation, it was revealed that he did enough to make the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Casey sang "Heaven" by Bryan Adams. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Top 20[]

Casey sang "I Don't Want to Be" by Gavin DeGraw. He received enough votes to be considered "safe" for that week.

Top 16[]

Casey sang "You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban. He received enough votes to become a Top 12 finalist.

Top 12[]

Casey sang "It's All Over Now" by The Valentinos.

Trivia[]

  • He notably took off his shirt during his audition, much to the excitement of Kara and Victoria.
