Cadence Baker (born January 13, 2003)[1] was a contestant on Season 20 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Cadence auditioned in Nashville. She sang "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Cadence was shown in the "Soul" category of the Genre Challenge, in a group with Kevin Gullage and Tristen Gressett. She sang "First Heartbreak" by Tori Kelly. She was later shown in a duet with Cole Hallman called "C Major", singing "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" by Marvin Gaye. For her final solo performance, she sang "The Joke" by Brandi Carlile. Afterwards, the judges told her that she did enough to make the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Cadence appeared in Group 2 and sang "Something's Got a Hold on Me" by Etta James. She received enough votes to advance.

Top 20[]

Cadence sang "Train Wreck" by James Arthur. She did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 10, putting her in danger of elimination. She then sang "I'm Your Baby Tonight" by Whitney Houston. The judges did not select her to become a finalist, eliminating him from the competition.

  • Cadence's grandfather is Gary Baker, a country music songwriter of "I Swear" by All-4-One and John Michael Montgomery.
  • Cadence's father, Shane, is also a musician. His former band is named Cadence, after his daughter.
