Bobby auditioned in New Orleans. He sang a country song that involved a lot of yodeling. It caught the attention of Paula but Simon was displeased. He then asked Bobby to sing something different behind the backdrop. He then sang "Lately" by Stevie Wonder behind the "American Idol" backdrop, but the judges felt that his second performance was inferior and eliminated him from the competition.
