Introduction

Hi Everyone,

So I just discovered this wiki and I have to say, I'm impressed. It's nice to find a place where some of us who've only made a single appearance can have a space where people can find us. I can say in the last 10 years that I've done quite a bit of things myself. Whether it's spending 2 to 3 years at Full Sail University working on an internship with both WWE and ESPN or whether it's being an editor for National Geographic or working with Rob Schneider on 3 projects including the Netflix sitcom series "Real Rob".

Lately though, I've finished my 2nd EP album under the name "BayKon" on Soundcloud. I've just published my 1st autobiography on Amazon titled "Embracing the Nachos:The first 40 years". I'm currently working…

State of the Union

This is in response to Gracehotpink. I just want to clarify some things about how I want American Idol Wiki to be run, since I am the admin.

I find the excessive categories to be annoying, especially when there are multiple categories saying the exact same thing.

To me, these categories all say basically the same thing.

I will agree to some categories, namely ones for the state that a contestant comes from, or if they appeared on a different reality-competition shows, etc. Honestly the best way to ask if you want to allow a category is just go to my talk page.

Additionally, it is my goal to have a page for every televised contestant on American Idol, complete with unbiased info about the contestant and a good high-quality image, preferably without …

Season 19 Protocol

Season 19 is starting tomorrow, and like always, I would prefer it if I would make the new contestant pages. I would usually get them fully prepared the day after, so please bare with me. As always, only contestants that are televised and with a contestant marquee are documented. You are free to correct info and misspellings after I create the pages. Keep the info about the contestant to a minimum as only the info that pertains to American Idol is going on the page. If they make the live shows/are prominent in another way, then a separate [Contestant Name]/Personal page can be made. If you want to discuss anything about the season or the contestants, use the talk pages. I am never more than a couple of hours away (unless I am sleeping).

Future of season 18

As of right now, I haven't heard anything on whether Ryan Seacrest, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, & Lionel Richie will returning for Season 18 of Idol next year. I have heard stories of possible changes being made by ABC for money reasons even though I did read an interview where Luke said that he hoped that he, Katy, & Lionel do return. As for Ryan, I haven't heard anything from him that I know of so please understand that this upcoming season is right now filled with uncertainty.

Let's all be patient. The news on whether all 4 will be coming back will happen when it happens.

Ryan Long (American Idol Judge)

Ryan Long (born April 12, 2001) is an Judge, Director, Producer, Actor, Nintendo Producer, and Dancer who is best known in both the UK and the United States as a talent judge on TV shows such as America's Got Talent, American Idol, Britain's Got Talent, and The X-Factor.

Ryan decided to leave the Britain shows after Series 12 of Britain's Got Talent, and start fresh to hopefully become a new judge member of American Idol. Ryan has been judging America's Got Talent for 6 seasons and is hoping to reach up to 8 seasons.

Ryan is wanting to join American Idol Season 17 because he just left 2 shows from Britain and only has America's Got Talent in progress planned till 2020, but instead 2018.

But after America's Got Talent Season 13 ended, Ryan confirme…

Idol coming back; Katy Perry now a judge

As we all know, Idol is coming back on ABC, and Katy Perry was announced as a judge today. Let's just say that I am very excited about this.

As for who the host will be and who will join Katy on the judging panel, I would suggest taking a wait-&-see approach to this. There are a lot of rumors going around so I would take those with a grain of salt until the person in question comfirms or denies the rumors involving them. I just think that this may be the best way to do this.

So get ready, folks. Idol is back!! :D

American Idol Cancelled - what's your take?

Hey everyone! By now you've probably heard that American Idol will have no more seasons. What's your take? Understandably the show has had an INCREDIBLE run for over a decade and 15 Seasons and has produced hundreds of successful musicians, catapulting careers into so many different directions.

What's your favorite success Idol story? Of course there have been those  major top 40 stars like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert. And there have also been so many folks who have found their niche like Diana DeGarmo, Constantine Maroulis and Taylor Hicks who made their way into musical theater.

One of my favorite American Idol success stories is Jasmine Trias who has a great amount of success in the Philippines.

What's your take? Is it…

Tori Kelly

Hi! I just wanted to write this post to let you all know that I have started a wiki for Tori Kelly! I am looking for help adding content, so if you are interested, visit this page. As you can see, I just started, so any help would be appreciated. Since she was on American Idol, I thought that some of you might know a thing or two about her. For those of you who would be interested in becoming an administrator, I am looking for a few, so just let me know on my talk page (after, of course, contributing to the wiki). This will add another wiki administrator title under the belts of some, and it may be the first time for others, so there are no prerequisites needed. Thanks for reading and please help!

American Idol Judges

Americanidoljudges (talk) 18:51, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

The judges for 2014 are Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. as well as Ryan Seacrest has been the host of the show since the first season.

Jennifer Lopez was first seen as an American Idol judge in 2011 but stepped down in 2013 because she wanted to spend more time with her family.  But she soon came back to American Idol in 2014 as one of the three leading judges.

Jennifer Lopez- Is a famous New York born Latina singer, actor, and fashion designer. She became interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry following a minor role in the 1986 film My Little Girl, to the dismay of her Puerto Rican parents who believed it was a foolish career idea.  Lopez gained he…

Judging panel update

There are now reports out there saying that a songwriter and producer who calls himself Dr. Luke may be joining the panel. Like before, I think it would be best to hear it straight from him or from the network before putting it on the season 13 page. Also I wouldn't put too much stock into what Casper Smart says regarding his girlfriend Jennifer Lopez returning. Until she or the network say so, I would take what he says with a grain of salt.

Now another issue has come up. I have been noticing that someone keeps putting Cher Lloyd's name as a possible Idol judge on the season 13 page. From all the Google searches I do to all of the stuff I read online, this isn't true. Yes, she is a British pop star like Cheryl Cole, whose name has been ment…

New judges

OK, folks, here's the thing. I know that there have been reports that Jennifer Lopez & Will.i.am are to be joining Keith Urban on the judging panel for season 13, but I think it would be better to hear it straight from Jennifer & Will themselves before mentioning them as judges on the season 13 page. I know that people are excited for this to happen, but until they say that they are a part of the show, please be patient. I hope everyone understands. Thank you.

THE END IS HERE - Finale Results Show

I'll be tossing in some favorite Idol moments in here because reasons. Let's start with:

And FINALLY, the results. Candice wins. Watch her not sell any albums. That would be funny.

Solid effort, Vote For the Worst. imo, this was a losing battle when the producers stacked the guys with fuggos less talented than the girls. Fuck them, you guys are awesome. Good for you for sticking it out for nine seasons of this swill. Best of luck to everyone there. You will be missed.

And so ends the (most likely) last and most boring season of American Idol. Well done, producers, you've succeeded in running the show into the ground. And as for the two people on here who've been reading my blog posts, I think it's time you knew that I made these blog posts to se…

Furious Face Candice - "I (Who Have Nothing)" by Shirley Bassey
Candice started a capella but gave pretty much the same performance as last time, misinterpreting the song to be angry and oversinging it to the point where she actually gave me a headache.
Grade: FAIL. Not the best song to reprise, especially if she interpreted it wrongly again.
ROUND THREE WINNER: Kree.
SEASON WINNER: Candice.

Instead of giving a short recap of the finale results, I'm going to recap the whole finale results show.

One last video. Let's end where we started, shall we?

See you tonight.

Not a Blogger, a Khaleesi - Top 3

One final down, two more to go.

This week the girls sang three songs. There has not been a single performance night that lasted only an hour. I miss the one hour shows. They didn't make me wish for sweet death.

I'm on a Game of Thrones high, so there will be random quotes here and there.

Kree the Janitor
Jimmy Iovine's Choice: "Fuckin' Perfect" by P!nk
This was such a fucking weird song choice for Kree, especially since I knew she wouldn't swear. I honestly feel that the version with the swearing is a lot more heartfelt and sincere. Kree seemed very nasally and flat, and she fudged up the words twice. Overall, the performance was lackluster. P!nk sings the shit out of this song every time. I feel like Kree didn't even try.
Nicki said the quality o…

Don't Worry, I'm NOT Leaving - Top 4 (Again)

Sorry for the confusion. Apparently, I made it seem in my last sign-off that I would not be returning to recap this week. Fear not, readers. I am here and I have my opinions ready.

So this week's theme is "Songs From Now and Then", which means one hit song from this year and one standard song from the Great American Songbook. I looked up what exactly the Great American Songbook was and it's mostly ballads. UGH.

What will probably be sung:

  • Fly Me to the Moon
  • Over the Rainbow
  • You'll Never Walk Alone
  • Call Me Irresponsible
  • Night and Day
  • The Way You Look Tonight
  • Moon River
  • Georgia On My Mind
  • I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm
  • Stormy Weather
  • It Had to Be You - if someone fucking sings this, I'm gonna throw something

What I hope will be sung but probably won't …

I'm Sorry You Don't Have Enough of a Sense of Humor to Enjoy VFTW - Top 4

You know what's awesome about Vote For The Worst? The fact that they don't care. They will act how they want, deal with all the hate mail they get, and they've stuck around for nine seasons of Idol. They get attacked for being honest and having an opinion (kind of like my posts on here) but they don't give a shit (and neither do I). And they're actually really funny and make the show more entertaining for me. Plenty of people have spoken up about Idol since they've been on the show and VFTW has always backed them up. Hell, they even had Sanjaya on their radio show once. Sanjaya is awesome, I don't care what anyone says. He had personality and he was entertaining.

Another thing about VFTW that I like is that they don't come up with random bullsh…

Sorry No Top 5 Recap This Week

Sorry for the inconvenience but I will not be watching and recapping the Top 5 this week. Instead I will provide random thoughts from the song spoilers I saw before the show and some interesting info I got off Vote for the Worst.

  • This week's themes were Divas and Songs From the Year You Were Born. I was actually a little excited for the "year you were born" songs, because some choices can be entertaining. I saw that Candice sang "Straight Up" by Paula Adbul, which sounds kind of awesome and entertaining in a funny way. Imagining Candice trying to be sassy and sexy with her furious face singing almost made me want to watch the show.
  • The Divas theme I wasn't liking too much. The Idol contestant's definition of diva songs are dreary, done to dea…

I Put This Off For As Long As I Could - Top 6

So apparently, calling someone who stutters a "stutterer" is considered an insult. Who knew?

In the cold open, Idol whined about losing Burnell, which I found funny because he wasn't even that good.

After seeing the song spoilers for this week, I was not looking forward to watching the performances. Nothing looked funny or trainwreck worthy. It looked like another damn snoozefest. And it didn't help that they were doing two songs this week.

Now, here's something you probably don't know about me: I have an excellent memory. It's not photographic, but it's pretty close. For example, my family will ask me random trivia about Friends, and I can give them the exact answer followed by what season it was from, the episode number, and episode title (tru…

Less Guys = Lower Ratings - Top 7

Last Thursday, Idol's ratings dropped to an all time low. Why? Because Idol is sending all the guys home. It could not be more obvious that the powers that be want a girl to win this year. At least in past seasons, they would alternate who got kicked off (guy, girl, guy, girl, and so on until about the top 6 or 5). There are two guys left on the show, the rest are all girls.

So this week is Rock Week. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I love rock music (my iTunes is full of Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, Staind, Three Days Grace, Green Day, Black Veil Brides, Within Temptation, etc.), but usually when Idol does Rock Week, people don't do well (except the WGWG). They tend to sing a lot of classic stuff too, rather than someth…

I May Not Agree With Your Opinions, But You Don't See Me Trying to Tape Your Mouth Shut - Top 8

You know what I love about being an American? The fact that I have freedom of speech and the press. You don't always have to agree with me, and you can criticize my opinions all you want, but you do not have the right to shut me up.

YOU SHALL NOT STIFLE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

And just to clarify (again), it's not a matter of whether or not I can sing better than the contestants. No one needs to be an expert to point out errors like this. For example, you do not have to be a gymnast, a gymnastics coach, or a certified judge to know when a gymnast performs a triple twist with sloppy form (I'm looking at you, Raisman and Mustafina). The same applies in this situation. It doesn't take a singer (amateur or professional) or an expert vocalist to know w…

Don't They Have Any Original Ideas? - Top 9

You know, I was having a good day. I wrote a five-page research paper in three hours, I had some devilishly good fried chicken, they had Nerds rope at the market place at school, I made some major progress in my Hunger Games fanfiction, I rediscovered how awesome CSI was, and in general I was just excited to go home for spring break.

Then, I had to watch this.

For some reason that escapes me, the producers thought it was a good idea to do Beatles week. Again. Why? It's not like the other Beatles weeks on Idol were any good. They did it twice in season seven (the first day was sucktacular, the second day was just fucking boring) and they did it again in season nine (which I didn't watch). So I knew this was gonna be bad. And there was not a single…

Hmmm, Where Have I Seen This Before? - Top 10

So instead of Seacrest doing the cold open, the show starts with this montage of the Top 10 and their road to the finale, and includes clips from past winner announcements. And what do you know, the theme for this week is "Songs by Former Idol Winners". This doesn't just restrict the contestants from picking songs from the winners' post-Idol careers, however. They can sing something that the winner sang on the show as well. So I'm expecting mostly Kelly and Carrie and at least one song by one of the WGWG winners.

Nicki is apparently late because she was stuck in traffic.

Curtis - "I Believe" by Fantasia
Jimmy Iovine said: Don't be too retro.
Better Sung on Idol By: Fantasia (duh). This was her coronation moment. Singing a former Idol winner's coronati…

They Need to Stop Making These Two Hour Shows - Top 10 Guys

No intro today, just get on with the singing.

Asian Bieber Elijah - "Stay" by Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko
Elijah starts the night by boring me to death with a ballad. His high voice actually made him sound like Rihanna in places, which was funny. He and Rihanna both have about a three-note range but Elijah's only hitting about 30% of the notes in the song. His lower register is where he goes off-key the most. At least the performance was mercifully short.
The judges pimp Elijah to the moon as part of the producer's plans to let anyone besides a WGWG to win this season.
Grade: D. The 12 year old girls with iPhones will vote for him.

Cortez - "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars
As soon as I heard Cortez was singing Bruno Mars, I was like, "Great. An…

Two is Already More Than Enough - Top 10 Girls

So this is how disconnected I am with this show. I didn't know there was a Top 10 Girls Round and Top 10 Guys Round AND a results show this week. WHY? WHY MUST YOU STRETCH IT OUT THIS LONG?

And in not knowing of the gender-separated Top 10 Rounds, I missed the Top 10 Girls this week. So I'm just gonna watch both Top 10 Rounds one after the other but make separate posts. 20 reviews in one post is too much.

And of course, Ryan and Randy pimp the girls to the moon, which is part of the producer's strategy to stop the WGWG streak.

Side note: I have to stop listening to awesome singers before I watch these shows. I have "Make the World Move" still stuck in my head.

I Have Les Mis Stuck In My Head - Semifinals Round 4

Bear in mind that just before I watched this episode, I watched the Les Mis Oscars performance for the millionth time and it made me cry for the millionth time (you know, Anne Hathaway being flawless, Samantha Barks stealing the show from Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit and his Enjolras swagger, and the breathtaking background choir). And now I have to lower my expectations for this while I'm still singing it in my head. :P

Seacrest is out by the pool in the cold open so he obviously has to make some kind of water pun (and does). He also mentions after the guys are announced that the contestants were allowed to pick any song they wanted for the semifinals, which I know is a lie. There have been times in the history of the sh…

I'd Care If They Actually Had Talent - Semifinals Round 3

I've devised a method on how to judge each performance objectively. First I just listen to the performance so I'm not distracted by what they do or look like. Then I rewind the video and watch the performance. That's why I don't watch the episodes live, because I don't have DVR up at school.

Okay, enough of the yakking. Onto the singing.

(Side note: Why was there fire behind Seacrest in the cold open?)

Melinda Ademi Hot Pants - "Nobody's Perfect" by Jessie J
When the song starts, Melinda does this really weird walk to the middle of the stage. She also appears to be wearing leather hot pants over purple leggins (gurl, no). I think she's trying to be sexy but it's not working at all. Didn't some girl already sing this song last week? I can't rem…

American Idol Season 12

American Idol always gives major surprises and shocking eliminations every year and with the talent involved, it's no wonder it is the most successful reality TV show in history. People all over the place think that it is rigged and that the judge "unfairly", psshhh....are you the manager of the show? Do you know how it runs? Are you a platinum album millionaire judge? I don't think so! So there will be no wining here, only my opinions and the possible fates of Season 12's contestants.

Here Goes Nothing - Semifinals Round 1

So I decided to give this show another try. Wish me luck and hope I don't quit halfway through.

First, some background info on my history with American Idol.

I watched from season three to season seven. My favorites included Fantasia, Constantine, Bo, Paris, Daughtry, Sanjaya (I'll get to that later), and Archuleta. I was the typical teenage Idol viewer, completely unaware of what exactly the show was, and annoyed when the person everyone hated made it further than everyone thought they should have.

In season six, I first heard about Vote for the Worst and how they were all working to make Sanjaya win. I didn't really know much about the website, but I became a Sanjaya fan on my own. He had a decent voice and he had some really fun performances…

Main Page Changes

Hi everyone ! I'm Lexi, a Wikia staff member, currently waiting for the admin of this wiki to respond to my ideas about main page changes, so if any active editors or members here want to throw out some ideas or constructive criticism, that would be great!

I am hoping to put a lot of newer content on the main page and swap out the old content since it's a new season of American Idol. I was also thinking of having a portal of past winners/current contestants, and making it a little less text heavy (more pictures/VIDEOS!)

So, what do you guys think?

Judging Panel Season 11

Season 11 of American Idol is just around the corner and the judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest are all coming back! This show is starting to wear thin on me. The talent on the show has become worse and worse since season 7. Season 6 was the show's peak. It had Melinda, Jordin, Blake, and of course Sanjaya. Sanjaya was the best part of the show just because he was fun to watch.

My main problem with the talent is that there are two niches that the contestants fill. They're either terrible or they're boring. At least Rachel Zevita was interesting. I was rooting for her to win the whole thing.

And now at the end of this season, white guy with guitar #4 has won the show. I remember first seeing Scotty and I honestly couldn't understand why he kept surviving week after week. I did find his head tilt and googly eyes funny, though. Eventually, I wanted him to win…

American Idol Paydays

With the votes tallied for Season 10 of American Idol, I thought it would be a good time to tally the earnings!

As Eonline recently reported, AI winner Scotty McCreery's recording contract will pay him $250,000. But there's more gold in them there hills. Scotty is sure to see ancillary revenues from the win as he goes on the post-season Idol tour. Not to mention the first class travel and accommodations for both him and his parents.

Lauren Alaina gets less than a third as the runner-up at $87,500, which feels like it's on the low side given how vital the last two finalists are for the ratings of the finale.

These paydays will inevitably get fresh scrutiny due to Simon Cowell's new show The X Factor which boasts a $5 million dollar recording c…

American Idol Finale Recap

After two hours of amazing performances from some of music's biggest names, the American Idol Season 10 finale saw 120 million votes and win a for....Scotty McCreery!

Going into Tuesday night's show, I have to say I thought Scotty McCreery was a lock, but then Lauren Alaina stunned the judges with her melodious third and final performance- and two out of the three judges predicted her the favorite to win, with Steven Tyler nearly declaring it a certainty. So I was left thinking that Idol fans would vote in line with the judges, but I was happily proved wrong.

Overall, the finale was an exciting night that saw: the Top 13 finalists performing Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", James Durbin banging it out with Judas Priest, and Casey Abrams teaming …

Lady Gaga, Beyoncé to sing on tonight's finale

Last night's final performances on Season 10 of American Idol gave us pretty spectacular performances from both Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, with the judges ultimately giving a slight edge to Lauren for her heart-rending third performance. Tonight, Wednesday (May 25) somebody will be crowned the new people's champ and more details have emerged about who will perform.

Reports have it that a pair of this year's mentors will be back to celebrate the coronation. In addition to U2's Bono and the Edge performing with cast members from the troubled Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga will take the stage.

The story claimed that both pop divas, who helped mentor this year's finalists, will team up with all-time …

American Idol:It Ain't Over Until It's Over

As the season winds down, there are some lessons that still have not been learned. The judges don't get that their comments do have some effect - they tend to swing the voters away from anything that they say. That means that the praise that they gave Lauren could set Scotty up to be the winner. Next, the temperature from last week seemed to indicate that people were not impressed by Haley's guitar-playing father. In fact it may have hurt her. I'm not sure how you can be an "Idol" and at the same time appear to be apron-string tied to your parents. Finally...ballads, ballads, ballads. Ballads are the key to winning American Idol. I'm joking about all the above...but not completely.

I completely did not like Scotty at the beginning of the se…

Carrie Underwood surpasses Kelly Clarkson as top American Idol earner

Simon Cowell actually predicted it during Season 4 and in 2011 it came true — Carrie Underwood is now officially American Idol’s top earner, surpassing Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson.

Last year, Kelly Clarkson reigned supreme on Billboard’s Top 24 Idols tally- with 10,600,000 albums and 15,900,000 digital tracks sold since 2002. As of May 16, Underwood’s album sales topped 12,296,000 and she’s moved more than 18,482,000 digital tracks since winning season 4. (Sales data provided by Nielsen SoundScan.)

While Clarkson’s international presence is stronger than Underwood’s, who plays mostly to U.S. and Canadian audiences, Kelly has devoted much of 2010 and 2011 to working on her as yet unreleased fifth album -- or spending rather than earning. F…

American Idol:Winding Up For The Finish

Scotty, Lauren and Haley had an opportunity to really showcase themselves last night. They finally had the chance to do three songs and display their depth and versatility. Much to my surprise, Lauren seemed to be the best prepared and well put together. She looked good and sounded good each time. Even if she did have a slight slip in the middle of her last song, most of the public would have never taken notice if the judges had not harped on it. I say kudos to her. She has truly come a long way from the completely goofy (still sometimes slightly goofy) school girl to a somewhat polished performer who is clawing her way into contention to be in the big time.

Haley even surprised me. I wasn't altogether impressed with her first two selectio…

Country Music pundits weigh in on Idol singers

So what do the country radio programmers think of American Idol Season 10 country crooner finalists Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina? Well it turns out they're not quite singing their praises. Yet.

"I'm calling in sick the day they bring Scotty by on radio tour," said Toni-Marie, music director for Bakersfield, Calif., station KUZZ, tells Radio-Info.com's Phyllis Stark in her latest Stark Country newsletter. "I wish people would quit comparing this kid to Josh Turner. He attempts to sound like him, but the only thing he is successful at is looking like the kid on MAD magazines ... Maybe Scotty does have some potential. I don't see it, but he needs someone to teach him to be who Scotty is. Quit doing JT covers and doing that weird eye thing …
