John Benjamin "Ben" Briley (born March 19, 1989) was a contestant on Season 13 of American Idol.

Audition

Ben auditioned in Atlanta. He sang "Arms of a Woman" by Amos Lee. All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.

Hollywood Round

Ben was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Group of Ten as Rico Perkins. He sang "Stars" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. He advanced and was later shown in a group called "Backstreet Cowboys" with Casey Thrasher and Dexter Roberts singing "I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys. Everyone in the group advanced. For his final solo performance, he sang "Stars" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. At the Final Judgment, he was called up alongside Neco Starr. The judges could not make a decision on which boy to advance and put the verdict up to a public vote.

Top 30

Ben won the vote and became the fifteenth boy to became a Top 30 finalist.

Ben was chosen by the judges to compete during Rush Week. He sang "Soulshine" by The Allman Brothers. Afterwards, it was revealed that he received enough votes to become a Top 13 finalist.

Top 13

Ben sang "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash. He received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.

Top 12

Ben sang "Turning Home" by David Nail. He received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.

Top 11

Ben sang "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John. He wound up getting the lowest number of votes, so he sang "Stars" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals for the second time. However, the judges chose not to save him, eliminating him from the competition.
