Ava Maybee Cardoso-Smith (born February 19, 2001)[1] was a contestant on Season 20 of American Idol.

Ava Maybee auditioned in Los Angeles. All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Ava Maybee was shown in the "Pop" category of the Genre Challenge, in the same group as Sir Blayke and Sam Finelli. She sang "Roxanne" by The Police. For her final solo performance, she sang "Falling" by Harry Styles. Afterwards, the judges called her up alongside Yoli Mayor. The judges could not decide between the two, so they asked for an on-the-spot sing-off, where she sang "Roxanne" a second time. The judges liked her performance and put her through to the Top 24.

Top 24[]

Ava Maybee appeared in Group 2 and sang "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus & Chaka Khan. She received enough votes to advance.

Top 20[]

Ava sang "Anyone" by Demi Lovato. She received enough votes to place in the Top 10 in the voting, making her a finalist. To celebrate, she sang "Cuz I Love You" by Lizzo.

Top 14[]

Ava sang "Sign of the Times" by Harry Styles. She, along with Dan Marshall and Allegra Miles, received the lowest number of votes, thus eliminating her from the competition.
