Ava August Zaharek (born August 19, 2005),[1] known professionally as Ava August,[2] was a contestant on Season 19 of American Idol.

Audition[]

Ava sang an original song called "Neighbor Boy". All three judges voted "yes", sending her to the next round.

Hollywood Round[]

Ava was shown in the "Pop" category of the Genre Challenge, alongside Liahona Olayan, Ammon Olayan, Liv Grace Blue and Laila Mach. She sang "We're Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes. She was later shown in a duet with Hunter Metts called "Ten-Oc" singing "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn. During the Showstoppers Round, she sang an original song called "Ghost of You". During the Final Judgment, the judges told her she did enough to become a Top 24 finalist.

Ava sang "Drivers License" by Olivia Rodrigo and "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell in a duet with Josh Groban. She received enough votes to be considered "safe".

Top 16[]

Ava sang "2002" by Anne-Marie. She received enough votes to become a Top 12 finalist. To celebrate, she sang "Love of My Life" by Queen.

Top 12[]

Ava sang "City of Stars" by Ryan Gosling (from La La Land). She, alongside Beane and Madison Watkins, received the lowest number of votes for that week, eliminating them from the competition.
